    1. Purpose of the Role

    The Technical Solution Engineer serves as the primary technical point of contact between Trina Storage and customers, as well as their representatives, involved in the execution of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across the LAC region.
     
    The main responsibility of this role is to manage and deliver vendor-level engineering support by reviewing, commenting on, and following up on engineering documentation issued by the customer or its representatives. This includes drawings throughout their revision cycle until approval for construction, RFIs, submittals, transmittals, and technical specifications. The role ensures that all documentation is aligned with Trina Storage’s scope of supply and complies with applicable technical standards and project requirements.
     
    Additionally, this position acts as a key technical interface between the Sales team, the Project Delivery LAC team, and the Engineering team at Headquarters (HQ). The role is responsible for channeling technical queries, aligning engineering criteria, and documenting deviations that may result in NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) or require corrective actions.

    2. Main Responsibilities

    2.1 Engineering Documentation Review

    • Review engineering drawings, plans, and technical specifications issued by the Client and/or its representatives, ensuring alignment with the BESS design and scope supplied by Trina Storage, including container layouts, PCS, transformers, MV switchgear, and BMS/EMS systems.
    • Evaluate contractor technical submittals and transmittals, including equipment data sheets, installation procedures, FAT/SAT protocols, and single-line diagrams.
    • Verify compliance with applicable local regulations, grid requirements, and technical standards for each country within the LAC region.
    • Identify and assess discrepancies between customer engineering documentation and manufacturer installation requirements, including foundation tolerances, MV cable routing and entries, structural welding requirements, and LV/BMS connections, among others.
    • Prepare and issue formal engineering reviews and document markups, tracking the status of each observation (Approved, Approved with Comments, or Rejected) and following up until full resolution and closure.

    2.2 RFI and Technical Inquiry Management

    • Receive, register, and manage RFIs (Requests for Information) submitted by the Client and/or its representatives, coordinating responses with the HQ Engineering team whenever required by the scope or technical complexity.
    • Prepare clear, accurate, and fully documented technical responses, ensuring turnaround times are aligned with project execution schedules and contractual milestones.
    • Maintain and update project-specific RFI and submittal logs, including document status, responsible parties, response dates, and target closure dates to ensure effective tracking and communication.

    2.3 Technical Support to the Project Team

    • Provide technical support to the Utility BESS Engineer, Project Managers, and Site Managers in the interpretation and application of engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation during the project execution phase.
    • Participate in site visits and field inspections when technical assessment is required to evaluate construction deviations, non-conforming installations, or implementation issues, supporting the definition and follow-up of corrective actions.

    2.4 Interface with HQ Engineering

    • Coordinate with the HQ Engineering (Product Engineering) team on technical matters that exceed the scope of local decision-making, including shim acceptability, structural modifications, welding specification deviations, and other engineering exceptions.
    • Compile, organize, and provide the necessary technical background and supporting documentation to enable HQ Engineering to issue deviation approvals, technical dispositions, or waivers in a timely manner.
    • Translate and adapt HQ engineering requirements and technical criteria to ensure their effective implementation within the LAC region, considering local regulations, site conditions, and EPC contractor capabilities.

    2.5 Documentation and Reporting

    • Maintain up-to-date technical records for each project, including the status of submittals, pending review comments, and active RFIs.
    • Contribute to the LAC team’s weekly reporting by providing engineering progress updates, key performance indicators, and relevant technical risk alerts.
    • Ensure all technical documentation is properly archived within the project document management systems, maintaining full traceability of engineering reviews, decisions, and approvals.
