LAC Storage SCADA Engineer

Responsibilities

SCADA Architecture & Engineering

• Design and review SCADA architecture for BESS projects, including networking topology, server configuration, and communication protocols (Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, OPC UA)
 • Define and validate communication interfaces between BMS, PCS, MV skids, and remote/local control centers (SCADA ↔ CCC / dispatch)
 • Prepare and review technical specifications for SCADA systems and fiber optic networks
 • Evaluate and approve engineering designs from Client EPC contractors and third-party integrators, ensuring compliance with interoperability and communication protocols
 • Support supplier evaluation and RFQ/clarification processes; provide technical responses to vendor queries

 
Commissioning & Site Execution

• Lead and coordinate commissioning of SCADA and control systems on-site, including pre-commissioning checks (FAT/SAT support), signal verification, and interoperability testing
 • Train and guide site personnel and end users on SCADA operation; provide technical support during and after system startup
 • Coordinate escalation and resolution of SCADA-related technical issues across projects, including communication architecture deviations and signal integrity concerns
 • Develop and maintain technical documentation: logic diagrams, signal lists, SCADA specs, commissioning protocols, and as-built records

 
Regulatory & Cross-functional Coordination

• Support regulatory compliance related to connection requirements with national coordinators and distributors (e.g., CEN, NTS&CS)
 • Coordinate with HQ Engineering, EPC teams, O&M operators, and equipment OEMs to resolve technical issues across the project lifecycle
 • Contribute to continuous improvement of SCADA standards and commissioning procedures based on lessons learned from executed projects

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic, Electrical, or Control Engineering (or equivalent field)

Experience: Minimum 4 years in SCADA engineering for renewable energy or utility-scale projects. Prior experience in BESS, solar PV, or wind projects is strongly valued. Experience in EPC environments is a plus.

Technical Proficiency: Hands-on knowledge of Modbus TCP/RTU, DNP3, and OPC UA. Ability to read and produce single-line diagrams, signal lists, and network topology drawings. Familiarity with protection relays, HMI configuration, fiber optics, CCTV, and instrumentation. AutoCAD proficiency is required; PVSyst/PVCase is a plus.

Organizational Skills: Analytical mindset with strong documentation habits. Capable of managing simultaneous projects and coordinating multi-party commissioning teams.

Communication: Proactive and adaptable. Comfortable coordinating with local teams, EPC contractors, and overseas HQ stakeholders.

Language Skills: Spanish native or full professional proficiency. English intermediate or above (technical reading and written communication with HQ). Mandatory for clear communication.

Team Player: Ability to collaborate cross-functionally across Engineering, Supply, Logistics, and Site teams. Availability to travel within the LAC region and China, travels to other regions could be needed. Class B driver’s license required.
