Data Analytics Manager – BESS Performance & Maintenance Analytics

Responsibilities
Role Summary:
The Data Analytics Manager – is responsible for leading the internal analysis of operational performance across the company’s BESS fleet and developing advanced data-driven tools that enable proactive maintenance and improved product reliability. A key part of this role is producing high-quality internal and customer-facing reports, including monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual, and end-of-year performance reports, covering Corrected Round Trip Efficiency (CRTE), Availability, and other contractually required KPIs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Internal BESS Performance Analytics
- Analyse operational data (SCADA, BMS, EMS, PCS logs) from deployed BESS projects.
- Evaluate internal KPIs including Availability, CRTE, RTE, power-tracking accuracy, SoC/SOH behaviour, degradation, auxiliary consumption, thermal performance.
- Create internal dashboards for real-time and historical monitoring.
2. Reporting – Monthly, Quarterly, Bi-Annual, Annual
Internal reporting:
- Monthly site performance summaries
- Quarterly engineering and service performance reports
- Bi-annual fleet performance and reliability reviews
- Annual product performance evaluations
Customer-facing reporting:
- Monthly & Quarterly Customer Reports
- CRTE compliance reports
- Availability reports
- Capacity, energy throughput, and degradation summaries
- End-of-year performance reports
3. Maintenance Pre-Analytics & Predictive Modelling
- Develop early-warning indicators for component wear, imbalance, derates, anomalies.
- Build scoring tools to guide proactive maintenance.
- Provide recommendations to the Field Service and Maintenance teams.
4. Root Cause Analysis & Warranty Support
- Support data-driven RCA for failures or performance deviations.
- Validate customer claims with operational data.
- Support warranty cases and product improvements.
5. Data Infrastructure & Automation
- Oversee data ingestion, cleansing, validation, synchronisation.
- Automate reporting pipelines.
- Improve internal data models and fleet performance databases.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Service, Engineering, R&D, Commissioning, and Product teams.
- Provide insights supporting maintenance planning and design optimization.
7. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead and mentor a team of analysts and data engineers.
- Build internal capability in analytics and reporting.
Requirements
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
- 5–8+ years analytics experience in energy, industrial systems, renewables or related fields.
- Proficiency with Python, SQL, Power BI/Tableau/Grafana.
- Understanding of Li-ion BESS behaviour, performance KPIs, and system data.
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Predictive maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of IEC/IEEE BESS standards.
- Supplier-side experience in energy storage or power electronics.
