Battery Recycling and WEEE Manager

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement the battery recycling strategy for Europe in line with EU Battery Regulation (2023/1542), WEEE requirements and relevant local legislation 
  • Work closely with internal Legal and external consulting partners to ensure compliance with all reporting and recycling obligations and their future developments
  • Prepare periodical declarations of retired or end-of-life batteries as needed Identify as needed recycling and logistics partners for used battery collection, transport, and processing.
  • Maintain records and documentation for waste tracking, recovery certificates, and regulatory audits.
  • Support field service and after-sales teams in managing handling of end-of-life batteries.
  • Provide periodic recycling and compliance reports to management and HQ.
  • Support company sustainability and ESG initiatives related to battery lifecycle management.
  • Cooperate with Legal and Procurement departments for negotiations with recycling suppliers, consultants, partners
  • Participate in and coordinate external audits related to battery recycling compliance.
  • Support Sales Team for recycling strategy and set up discussions with customers 
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2-3years of experience in battery recycling, waste management, or environmental compliance within the energy or e-mobility sector.
  • Knowledge of EU Battery Regulation, WEEE Directive, and hazardous waste transport (ADR).
  • Experience working with consulting firms or compliance service providers preferred.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills to work across international teams (Europe HQ & China HQ).
  • Fluent in English (German, French, or Spanish is a plus).
