HSE Officer - Utility Storage (UK)

Responsibilities
  • Promote a strong safety culture by engaging with site teams and stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain H&S systems in line with ISO 45001 standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with H&S legislation.
  • Lead or support incident and accident investigations, including RIDDOR reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee contractor H&S compliance and implement site-wide safety audits.
  • Deliver or coordinate H&S training such as manual handling, first aid, and toolbox talks.
  • Maintain chemical safety records and approved substances database (HAZMAT).
  • Track safety trends, produce H&S reports, and share lessons learned across sites.
  • Manage onboarding and compliance checks for all contractors.
  • Identify and drive continual improvements in safety performance across the contract.
Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years of H&S experience in energy storage or similar power sectors.
  • At least 2 years' experience in fire safety and risk assessments.
  • Good understanding of UK and EU HSE regulations related to battery storage and recycling.
  • Knowledge of high-voltage working environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication in professional English; additional European languages or other language is a plus.
  • Comfortable with basic IT tools (Office 365); knowledge of other platforms is an advantage.
  • Must hold a CSCS card and full clean UK driving license.
  • Language: Fluent English and any other European language will be a plus.
